How old do i look?

so i have had several instances within the past few weeks regarding my age.
it all started at the boys first football game...

so michio and i are with our 11 year old neice alilia
we are waiting in line to pay...
and the girl at the table ask both me and alilia:
"are you both 12?"
whaaaaa ????

there is a different price if you are 12 and older...
and i get that...
and i get her asking if alilia was 12...
but me ??? 12 ?!?
come on now....

THEN, last sunday at church i was early,
so i was sitting by myself (michio was working)
and this grandma came up to me.
the first thing she said is:
"hi, where is your family?!"
... as if i was some sort of orphan...
so i said to her:
"ohh, they're not here yet.... and my husband is at work."
she said "oh! you're married?? i thought you were 14!"
.........................
i am actually her granddaughters primary teacher.

i know that i look younger then i really am...
but can i atleast be 16 !?!? sheesh...
although i'd much rather prefer being 18, so i would at least be an adult.

and there has already been about 5 instances at the high school i am teaching at...
i've met the vice principal 3 times...
this past week he was outside of my first class so i went to talk to him,
and yes he thought i was a student.

and while leaving the campus,
they obviously don't let students walk out the front door,
so i was stopped by the same person 2 days in a row,
because they thought i was a student.
and yes i did introduce myself the first time to make sure they knew who i was...
and not to mention the handful of new students i've gotten in a class that ask if i am a "TA"

when will it endddddd ??!??
so how old do you think i look?

on another note...
last sunday was the 49ers first game of the season!
so how did michio want to celebrate ???
with a PIG of course !!!
it would be silly to think he would want something otherwise
any reason to get a pig is a good reason for that guy!

otai
watermelon, mango, coconut, sweet drink

before they killed the pig, our niece alilia said:
"aww he's so cute! the cuter they are, the better they taste!"

baked beans, potato salad, green salad, cooked veggies, sweet potato, chips, sodas, and brownies

New Schedule

i was going to post pictures of our first meal as a result from our garden
... but something is wrong with our camera and it won't let me upload!
we had tri-squash spaghetti.
hopefully we can figure out this whole camera deal and i will be able to post about it later.

so in the mean time, i am just going to tell you all about my first week of school...

i started my student teaching at a school in south sac
... and we live north of sac...
so its an hour drive to the high school, 5 days a week.
it is called luther burbank, and supposedly it's pretty "ghetto"
but its not that much different then my highschool!
i think its a lot nicer then where i went!

so anywho... i am there mon-fri, 7:45-12:15
(for the first semester anyway)

then depending on which day, i either have an hour break, or a 3-4 hour break, depending on what day it is, until my classes start at sac state.

after waking up at 6am every morning, my school schedule is as follows:
monday i get home at 7
tuesday i get home at 9
wednesdays i get home at 8
thursdays i get home at 7
and every other friday i either get home at 2 or at 5

after this first week... i have been soo exhausted!!!

as far as my student teaching goes at the high school,
i have 2 periods of ceramics,
one period of drawing/painting,
and one period in a learning center working with students who basically need tutoring

we are supposed to be observing, and after the first week we are to be gradually taking over one of the periods that we have been placed in.

it has been a lot of fun in the ceramics class, and that teacher is very open with me suggesting project ideas, and i even get to show the advanced students how to wheel throw next week!
so what if there is only one advanced student in that class.... i still get to do it!
but in the second semester the teacher is going to let the students that work hard learn on the wheel if they want to, and i will be in charge of more students at that time.

so not to mention all of the time i am spending at the high school, in class every night, and driving so freaking much.... i still have to worry about all of the lovely homework that i will be getting.

in the future i see.... lots of nothing.
well actually i see lots of homework on the weekends...

and i feel like i NEVER get to see michio!
so sad ... =(

since he does work at night most week days, i am asleep before he gets home.
so for this first week the only time i really saw him was when i woke up in the morning getting ready for school... and he was getting ready for fishing... no fair!!!

so yeah i never really saw this in our future, but it'll be worth it in the end

for the student teaching, i am going to be with my classes at the high school the entire year.
and next semester i will have either one or two periods added on.
so the only days i get a break from their school is when they have a day off..
even if my school is on winter break... if their school is still in session, i still have to be there.

it is seriously a ton of work!!!
just call me nancy for the next year...

no life nancy
